the base animation for the Ratchet Dance, referenced from Beyonce’s Move Your Body video. It took me more than a day to get this part right, especially making sure his tail moved like it was being pulled by his butt. WAVE PRINCIPAL, HOOOO

I ANIMATED A THING.
Okay so this took me about four days to finish. The dance is heavily referenced from a Beyonce video (SNERK). I’d been wanting to something like this for years but was too intimidated to try it. WELL SO MUCH FOR THAT.
also best Groovitron track.
There are a few things I go to when I want to study character acting. Disney’s Atlantis, Emperor’s New Groove, Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Summer Vacation, to name a few. And now I’m adding Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One to that list.
A4O got a lot of flak in the fandom (which I don’t get, personally I loved it), but one thing they most definitely got right was the character acting. It’s smooth, crisp, and elegant, with just enough exaggeration/squash and stretch to stay cartoony. Particularily, the facial and mouth animations are AMAZING, and I know those can be difficult when working in 3D. It’s always been good in the games, but I think A4O went a step above. There a subtlety in the actions that wasn’t there before, possibly due to limitations on the software. It’s absolutely worth looking at.
Not a gamer? Watch the cutscenes here and you’ll see what I mean.

Whoops, I promised I’d post something today, didn’t I?
I like to imagine this is what their romance is actually like
